Maternity swimsuit shopping while pregnant can seem overwhelming to many women. With many factors to consider, such as support, comfort and style, finding the perfect maternity swimsuit can appear to be a difficult task. However, over the past several years maternity swimwear has truly taken off, with fashionable yet comfortable designs available in many different styles. Several maternity swimwear designers have changed the impression that maternity swimwear has to be frumpy and unstylish and shown that it can be sophisticated and sexy, while still being comfortable and functional.
Maternal America is a top designer of maternity swimwear, and for good reason. Their designs exemplify the perfect combination of style and comfort. Always on point when it comes to the latest trends, they incorporate gorgeous prints, great beading, and chic new swimwear designs into their collection this season. However, they also make sure that each swimsuit is comfortable and practical. Side tie bottoms on many of their suits ensure that it will fit your body perfectly, while halter support at the neck is comfortable and supportive. The Jenni Fiesta Tankini is a top seller, and one of my personal favorites. A modern and festive print in bright colors makes a stylish statement, and a metal ring at the bust is very trendy. The adjustable halter support and side tie bottoms ensure that the suit will fit you perfectly. The perfect combination between style and comfort, you will feel gorgeous the entire time you are in this swimsuit! A new swimsuit for the 2010 season is their Coco O-Ring Tankini. I absolutely love the neckline, which combines a cute ring at the bust with a beaded halter. It is unique and super stylish! The tankini covers your belly but leaves plenty of room for movement and comfort. In a gorgeous green, this tankini is a showstopper! With style and comfort, Maternal America knows the perfect combination for creating great maternity swimwear.
Prego Maternity is an incredible designer of maternity bathing suits. Known for their durability, style, and comfort, they have truly mastered the art of creating classic yet stylish swimwear which will last a long time. Their great fitting suits are tailored wonderfully for the expectant mother, ensuring comfort all day long. One of my favorite designs of theirs is the Black Dot Bikini. For those expectant mothers wanting to show a bit more skin, this is the perfect suit. The dot design is classic, always in style, and super feminine. A rectangular ring design at the bust is modern and trendy. This combination of classic and modern is always a success, as you will be effortlessly stylish. Aside from the cute design, the comfort and function which this suit provides is excellent. An adjustable padded tie halter provides bust support, and the freedom which a bikini provides ensures you will not feel restricted as your belly grows. Another fantastic option from Prego is the Texture Heart Swimsuit. This is a great option for those who want a bit more coverage with a one-piece, while still maintaining style. A gorgeous back design of straps and a deep v-cut, create a sexy look. The stretch and comfort which this suit provides is endless, creating the perfect combination of comfort and style. Prego Maternity truly knows how to design suits for the expectant mother, combining style, comfort, and durability in one.
Bikinis, halters, strapless, tankinis or one-pieces; there are many great maternity swimsuits available for the expectant mother. Each designer creates looks which are comfortable yet stylish, ensuring you will look and feel great in whichever suit you choose. Choose a swimsuit with a style you like that works for your active lifestyle, and you will feel confident and cute all day long.

6 Tips for Buy Maternity Swimwear
If you are going to be swimming or to the beach when you are pregnant, the one piece of clothing you will want is the maternity swimsuit. You may be able to wear your pre-pregnancy swimsuit for a while but after some months. It’s just not going to fit right and you may look like some Hollywood movie start wearing a regular bikini because they are in denial that they are pregnant.
Here are six suggestions when buying a maternity swimwear.
1) Look for something that is extra stretchy especially in the stomach, chest and hips. Your chest size will increase so you will need the extra room. Make sure that you have enough support in the bust though. Prego Maternity Swimwear has suits with a high Lycra content which is what you need. Make sure you hand wash and never through in the dryer high Lycra clothes. It will destroy the Lycra and make the items look like they belong to your husband.
2) Look for suits with adequate bust support if you are larger up top. Suits with wide shoulders straps and are adjustable are particularly helpful. The higher the swimsuit back or even with an added bra-like clip support in the back will help to support you more in the bust. Even if you are already big up top, your bust size is also likely to increase up a full cup size when you are pregnant. Maternity swimwear with a bit of padding in the cup will smooth out your shape and hide unwanted sights when it gets wet.
3) If you are a bit hippier, look for a bikini that ties on the side. This works well if you are different sizes on the top and the bottom.
4) One-piece maternity swimwear is great if you are doing regular swimmer. By far, the most supportive and a great option for the pool, whether it is lap swimming or water exercise, is the Empire Tank by Prego Maternity. Remember that regular halter or tank style swimwear won’t provide the necessary support for active motion.
5) Remember to get some swimsuit accessories. Cover-ups are a great fashion item and something you will like to throw on when you get out of the pool or return from the beach. After you have your baby, you can even use the cover-up for a great piece of loungewear. Look for cover-ups by Maternal America or the up and coming ones by Prego Maternity. They often double as great maternity tunics. Also, think about board shorts that can be worn over bikini bottoms.
6) Buy your maternity bathing suit early in your pregnancy. Make sure you order a little bigger than you need. It doesn’t need to be so big that it falls off or sags in the water. You also need to make sure it has enough bust support so it should be a tight fit up top. You are most likely going to start filling in the extra space as your pregnancy progesses.
Lastly, be sure to try on any swimsuit before you go on holidays. Your body changes rapidly when you are pregnant so the suit that fit you months ago may not fit you in the present. It an awful way to ruin your vacation when you find out that the clothes you have brought along no longer fit.
Make sure you allow plenty of time before the trip to make the actual purchase. Many brick and mortar stores don’t carry a large selection of maternity swimwear and you may need to order on line. Also, there are few places that stock maternity swimwear (or any swimsuits, for that matter) year round. Ordering online will take at least a week to arrive without special shipping by Fed-Ex. Be sure to check the return policy before buying online. Many online stores do not accept back undergarments and consider bathing suits the same, unlike other pieces of maternity clothes. Also, you may need to exchange to a different size or style and will need to allow for that time too.
Try not to let the idea of wearing a maternity swimsuit prevent you from going to the beach or the pool. Be confident in your new body and find a suit that will flatter your figure and style. In the end, you will definitely enjoy it!
